Cosmetic Dentistry*

Cosmetic dentistry enhances the appearance of your teeth using a variety of techniques including restoration, placement, straightening, crowning, bonding or whitening. Through these and other techniques, we will work to improve the appearance of your smile, giving you a new look that can help boost your self-confidence. At Western New York Dental Group, we recognize designing the perfect smile requires true artistic skill and experience to create a truly one-of-a-kind smile that is absolutely unique to you.

If you are considering cosmetic dentistry, here are some questions you should ask yourself. The answers to these questions will help you and your dentist identify the elements of your smile that you do not like. They will also help clarify what you would like to see at the completion of your treatment.

  • When you look in the mirror, do you like the way your teeth look?
  • Do you dislike the color of your teeth?
  • Are there spaces between your teeth?
  • Do you have any cracks or chips on your teeth or are you missing any teeth?
  • Do you have crooked teeth?
  • Do you feel your teeth are too long or too short?
  • Are you pleased with the shape and position of your teeth?

*Cosmetic dentistry is not an area of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association.

Professional teeth whitening can boost your confidence by giving you a brighter smile that can revitalize your entire face. It removes any stains that are on your teeth, even the deep ones that are difficult to remove at home with an over-the-counter teeth whitener. Some of these solutions can be applied at home, while other treatments are completed in the office. The level of whitening can be adjusted to meet your own special needs. If you have sensitive teeth or are concerned about sensitivity when whitening, you may want to consider a fluoride treatment. Discover how great it feels to smile more confidently at any occasion and call for your teeth whitening consultation today!

Take-home whitening: Our Western New York Dental Group professionals will take an impression of your teeth to design custom-fit trays that fit securely around each tooth. A whitening gel is added to the trays and the trays are placed in your mouth. The gel is available as a take home day or night solution. About two weeks after the procedure, you should notice a visibly, whiter smile.

In-office whitening: This system is a great alternative to the tray whitening system and utilizes a bleaching process that lightens discolored teeth. It is performed in the dental office by a dentist or dental professional. The procedure takes about two hours. A special gel is applied to the teeth and a special light works with the gel to break up stains and discolorations. After about two hours, the patient’s smile should be about eight shades whiter. As an added benefit, this solution includes take home trays to maintain whitening. In office whitening is not for every patient and is not available at all locations. Talk to your dentist to find out if it’s right for you.

Veneers are thin, tooth-colored coverings that are custom designed and permanently bonded to your tooth. The purpose is to protect the surface of damaged teeth. Veneers have other benefits including durability, an improved smile, and little to no removal of existing tooth structure. Veneers protect the surface of damaged teeth and may eliminate the need for more extensive treatment. Made out of state of the art porcelain, veneers mimic the properties of enamel, creating a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

These fillings, commonly known as “white fillings” are a metal-free restorative option. They blend in with your natural teeth and will not crack the remaining tooth structure.
Ceramic crowns can be used for a variety of cosmetic purposes including closing spaces or replacing missing teeth. Ceramic crowns contain no metal understructure, so they can give people the superior cosmetic results they desire. These crowns transmit the color of adjacent teeth and blend in with the surrounding natural teeth.
A cosmetic procedure can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. With bonding, tooth-colored materials are attached, or bonded, to the tooth surface. This process can improve unsightly stains from coffee, tea, tobacco or certain childhood medications; front tooth spaces; and accident-induced cracks or chips. Bonding is also used to fill small cavities. Bonding usually lasts from three to five years.
A process of shaping, or contouring natural teeth to improve their overall appearance. When teeth are slightly crowded or uneven, or when eye teeth appear too long, enamel shaping can be used to improve the overall appearance.

Invisalign is a new way of straightening teeth without calling attention to them. The procedure involves wearing a series of nearly undetectable aligners instead of the traditional brackets and wires. They are made specifically to fit your lifestyle allowing you to eat, drink, brush, and floss easily. Our patients love their Invisalign aligners because they are clear and virtually undetectable on teeth. And since Invisalign is removable, you can easily take the clear aligners out for special events. For all these reasons, Invisalign treatment is also a great option for adult patients.

Your orthodontist will determine if Invisalign is appropriate for you during an examination, and if they are a match, he/she will prescribe a treatment plan and take an impression of your teeth. This impression is submitted to Invisalign, which uses 3-D computer technology to create a series of precisely customized aligners. Patients wear each set of aligners for about two weeks and, as a result, teeth move gradually week by week until you’ve achieved the intended results- straighter teeth.

Most Invisalign patients visit their orthodontists no more than those who wear braces. The length of treatment is approximately the same as well.

What Our Patients Say

  • What a team! From the reception staff to the hygienists to the doctors, everyone is warm welcoming and outstanding customer service. Building is clean and organized. They don't shame you but instead educate you on dental health. All in all, the best dentist office I have ever gone to and I won't be changing any time soon!

  • I'll make it short and sweet. The staff has been absolutely phenomenal, they're always quick to get me in, and I've never had a better experience anywhere else. They have two concerns, my comfort (both physical and mental) and my teeth, and it's in that order. Don't go anywhere else, if you do you're missing out

  • Love this office! Very friendly, professional Staff. My kids love the waiting area. Excellent care!

    Holly N.

  • Out of all the dentists that take my insurance, they were the only who would get me in within 24 hours for an emergency. All the rest said 3 weeks to month. I have dental anxiety but not the traditional fear of pain and needles kind. The kind that stems from over 30 years of having dental problems and no dentist ever listening to me and taking me seriously. So, I've given up. But, already in just one visit, WNY Dental has been different. I don't expect a miracle, and even if in the end, It's ....
